Volunteer Spotlight: A Mother’s Christmas Appeal

Meet Hannah and Mike Crouch. Hannah tragically lost her son Jordan to an overdose on August 20, 2024. Jordan was part of our MMA family, and we knew him well. He had a charismatic spirit — one of those people you loved immediately.

In her deep grief, God placed a calling on Hannah’s heart to turn pain into purpose. She launched Jordan’s Journey, continuing her son’s legacy through acts of compassion and service. In December 2024, Hannah and Mike began collecting cold-weather items and preparing Christmas candy bags to share love and hope with our unsheltered neighbors.

Over the past year, they have served countless hours at MMA — especially at our Agape Stations, where people experiencing homelessness come to shower, eat, and wash clothes. They have provided meals, compassion, and friendship to the most vulnerable in our community. For them, it was never just food or conversation — it was about seeing people, building trust, and loving them right where they are. In loving those who struggle like Jordan did, Hannah has found a way to continue loving her son.

Because of this calling, Jordan’s Journey continues to gather support from their church family, their community, and even supporters across multiple states. They collect jackets, socks, blankets, hats, food, and other essentials for our Code Purple shelter and outreach programs — and they show up as the hands and feet of Jesus.

Not long after Jordan’s passing, Hannah asked a question no mother should ever have to ask:

“Did you share the Gospel with Jordan?”
We were able to assure her that every day he was with us, we prayed with him, encouraged him, and reminded him that he was loved by Christ — a love too often withheld from those living unsheltered.

Hannah and Mike serve faithfully every week, greeting each person with dignity and compassion. Jesus said, “Go out and bring them in,” and Hannah and Mike live out that calling with humility and grace.

We are incredibly grateful for their hearts, for their commitment to honoring Jordan through service, and for the way they continue to transform sorrow into hope. Through their mission, Jordan’s legacy lives on — touching lives, inspiring faith, and sharing love in the places it is needed most.
